About Me
Welcome to Yuppie Yogini! I’m officially another oatmeal eating, Green Monster drinking, blogger stalking reader ready to take the plunge and begin my own blog. My name is Nicole, I’m 29 years-old, live in Charlotte,NC, and I hope to follow in the footsteps of veteran bloggers and improve my health and attitude by making lifestyle adjustments one post at a time.
After I began reading healthy living blogs in January 2010 (I’m a little slow on the pick up), I wanted to jump on the bandwagon and start my own. Alas, I drug my feet. After much introspection I realized that a number offears/assumptions were standing between me and my blog:
1. I, like many other bloggers, worried I wouldn’t have anything to say.
2. I’m not confident in my writing skills.
3. My purpose for the blog wasn’t crystal clear.
4. I feared I’d have no readers.
Recognizing these insecure and narcissistic concerns has snapped me back to reality and I clearly know now why I want to begin a blog. First and foremost, I’m nearing 30 (ahhhh!) and have some unhealthy habits and thought processes that I need to kick to the curb. I tend to be more cynical and sarcastic which isn’t horrible in and of itself, but for me can lead to a negative self-concept and outlook on life. I’ve noticed that bloggers seem to feel pressure to maintain a positive attitude and whereas, I don’t hope to become Miss Suzy Sunshine, I’d like my blog to be a daily exercise in recapping my life with an optimistic spin. Second, I tend to be picky about the people I befriend and its not often I come across a group of women as insightful and strong enough to refuse to accept that their worth and weight are synonymous. So, I hope to tap into this world of amazing blogger women. Finally, as a person with self-diagnosed ADD, I’m interested in so many health, social, and cultural topics and I think it’d be fun to share that with others and get feedback. As far as the other worries go, I’ve reminded myself that I’m not blogging to earn a living or please anybody else and my writing doesn’t have to be perfect. I’m using this blog as a way to voice my thoughts and hopefully, be a self-improvement tool.
So why the name Yuppie Yogini?? Well, I’m your basic middle class, white, southern girl, but have become convinced that a natural and holistic lifestyle is where it’s at.
Over time I will add more to this post in the About Me section. If you run across my blog I hope you’ll come again and in the meantime, I welcome any feedback 🙂 .

Hey Nicole! Nice to have another blogger in class! I love you guys! 😉
We obviously love you too. 😉 Thanks for commenting!
Hi Nicole,
I just started in the blog world as well. I started reading blogs a few months ago and had a lot of the same thought you did when starting my blog (which is a little infant still). Best of luck with the blog and I look forward to reading!
Thanks for stopping by 🙂 Good luck to you with your blog as well. I’m excited to check it out!
Hey Nicole,
I saw your guest post on Ashley’s blog tonight and it really struck a chord with me. I’m still trying to break the vicious cycle, but having the influence of all the wonderful bloggers I read really helps. thank you for sharing your story! I can’t wait to read more of your blog. also, it cracks me up that Isaac is a WoW addict – I used to be, but haven’t played nearly as much since I started reading blogs. 😉
– Andi
WoW addict and let’s not forget Starcraft too. He’s actually pretty good about keeping his gaming in check and I’m grateful for that.
I’m so happy to hear my story is helpful to you in some way. Thanks for reading!
lol I read this thing and pretty much every detail could be applied to me.. I feel like I was reading about myself and that’s a bit scary! I’m definitely looking forward to reading more of your blog 😀
I’ve felt that way so many time reading blogs. I think that is what makes them so powerful. Thanks for reading!
Yay!!! You did it 🙂
I am so happy you started blogging, maybe you will inspire me to finally start too!
Ahhh! You totally need to start a blog. It’s been so much fun thus far! Let me know if you do!
Love North Carolina and the picture at the Biltmore you have. I have the same one! My sister is in school in Chapel Hill.
Oh Chapel Hill…..how I miss that place. You should visit her. There’s so much to do and CH has great restaurants. I’ll tag along! 😉
your blog is so cute, and your pictures are just beautiful! <3
Thanks!! I’m so happy to hear you like what you’ve seen so far! I really appreciate your comment. 🙂
Hey Nicole!! I found your blog through Caitlin, and I just have to say I love reading what you have to say!!! I can totally relate to the fears you listed up above about starting a blog… i just recently started mine and still kind of feel like I have no direction with mine, but I’m not too concerned about it! I just write whatever comes to mind, and I’m finding it really fun! OH! Almost forgot to mention, I live in Charlotte and I am a runner, too! PS… Happy Early 30th!!! Sooo exciting!
I’m so glad you commented! That’s awesome that you started your own blog and if it is something you are doing for fun, who cares if the direction isn’t clearly defined. Lots of bloggers seem to clarify their blog goals over time, at least that is what I tell myself 😉 That’s cool you live in CLT–we’ll have to meet up!
Hi! I found you through Caitlin’s blog and I’m a Canadian who is a massive yoga junkie and is trying to make my life healthier (the temptation of chips, wine, and beer is making this difficult!). I look forward to reading more of your blog and added you to my Google Reader!
Yay–thanks! I’m so happy to have a new reader. I hope you continue to like what you see!
Hi Nicole!
I just found your blog through Caitlin’s (healthytippingpoint.com) and am excited to read your posts! 🙂
Thanks! I’m so happy to have new readers! 🙂
Just found your blog and love it. I too have a blog and I have the same fears you do.
I would like to post more but sometimes with work, life etc I am anot able to. Still working on it though, starting this month I am hoping to post at least twice for the month.
I have had to work hard to fit blogging into my life, but know that I have a routine, it’s more doable. You must be crazy busy if you struggle to fit in a few posts a month–whew!
Hi! I love the idea for your blog. I look forward to catching up on old posts and following new ones!
Thank you!! I love having new readers!
Hi Nicole! I too am slow on the uptake of healthy living blogs. I started one to track my new journey into vegetarianism and was recommended to look @ Healthy Tipping Point for vegetarian recipes. The rest is history. I love the name yuppy yogini!!
Awesome! Congrats on being a new vegetarian and welcome to the world o’ blogging!
Love your blog!!!!! great idea! =)
Hey Nicole! Just came across your blog and I think its great! As someone who’s new to the blog world, I can relate to all your reservations and assumptions about blogging and it definitely took me a while to get up the courage to start my own. Love your perspective; I think its very realistic and – as such – inspiring 🙂
Thank you so much! Good for you for getting started! 🙂
I love this section – your reasons why you were fearing blogging were and ARE still mine…I would like to do more with mine. I love to write. If I could do it for a living only! Hah. But it’s near impossible and difficult. I still have no idea what my niche it.
Love your background by the way.
Just found your blog – I just made my way into the blog community for the same reasons as you 🙂 Oatmeal, green monsters, good food and kicking those pesky bad habits! I’m from Charlotte, too, so it’ll be fun to read through your blog!
You’re from Charlotte?! Welcome to the world of blogging!!
I dont know if I should really say whatever has been already said by everyone above. Yes eating healthy is in! It is a new lifestyle and it is a wonderfully good lifestyle. Nice blog! You are already subscribed!
Thanks! 🙂
Hi Nicole! I recently moved to Charlotte and found your blog. I just wanted to say hello and that I’m a new reader 🙂
