Welcome Back, Sunshine

by Nicole on January 12, 2012

Charlotte has been a rainy mess for the past 3 days and since the weather is typically beautiful in NC, I have very little tolerance for gray skies. I’ve felt sleepy, grumpy, and lethargic.

When I woke up this morning to sunshine peaking around the curtains, my mood immediately rebounded! I already feel the change in energy (or maybe that was the Ben & Jerry’s I ate for breakfast). As I’ve mentioned before, I work two part time jobs. Thursday are generally work-free and I like to take care of errands before the chaos of the weekend begins. Problem is that my morning routine on these days off doesn’t propel me out the door, but rather to the couch. Somehow I get sucked into trashy reality TV marathons and spend the better part of the day on the couch. It’s really embarrassing. This will not happen today! Why? Because the weather is amazing, I have a list of fun to-dos, and a nice evening event creating a firm deadline. Oh yeah—and I volunteered to give Caitlin a ride to the gym in about 10 minutes!

So in the next few minutes I must peel myself away from Miss Lily’s love and get going.

The highlights of my to-do list include getting several pairs of pants hemmed (sucks to be 5’3’’), pick up the remaining ingredients for my birthday cake, squeeze in a workout, and swing by Nordstrom. This evening I’m meeting co-workers for drinks and the above errands must be completed by this point. After the get-together I have a feeling I won’t be doing anything else productive.

So that’s my Thursday! Gotta run. Have a great day!

Tell me about it. Raleigh hasn’t been any brighter. But at least it’s not freezing cold yet.

But wait… I swear I saw you said you had to add “get a cat” to your list. Did you do it that quickly? Who is this Miss Lily character? (Sorry if you’ve had her for like 3 years, I’m usually good at remembering cats!)

Lily is my cousin’s cat who I kitty-sit when they travel. They are in Africa so I get to love on Miss Lily for several weeks!

I second Halley’s comment! Who is this Miss Lily? Is it your new kitty?

Yay, sunshine! Remember we are getting more light each day now. That makes me happy.

Makes me happy too. Although I don’t like summer, I do love the extra hours of daylight.
