How To Be A Blogger #Fail

by Nicole on December 18, 2011

I’ve been at this blogging thing for over a year and I’ve picked up a tip or two along the way. My particular area of expertise is in losing a following of supportive and loyal readers. Be warned, not everyone can pull this off; it does take a special set of skills. But the following list is sure to help any blogger become a guaranteed fail!

How to fail as a blogger:

fail

1. Fall off the face of the blogosphere for almost 2 weeks. Don’t reply to comments of emails. Send some random tweets, but don’t participate in the blog world otherwise.

2. Develop a Real Housewives of (fill in the blank) addiction that sucks time and demolishes all life experiences that lead to useful and interesting blog content.

3. Have a series of unfortunate “in real life” events including, but not limited to, getting a 36 hour stomach bug. Dry heave and sleep for 18 hours. This also contributes the lack of useful and interesting blog content issue.

4. Make wedding photo promises and then don’t deliver.

************************************************************

Yuppie Yogini didn’t intend to take a vacation, but she just realized a week has gone by without so much as a peep. Making good on promises, the official wedding recap post will really and truly be available tomorrow night. The reason I can promise this is because it’s already written. All I have to do is edit and post tomorrow night when I get home from work. Even I can manage that!

I appreciate all those who continue to read even when I lose track of time.

xoxo

Oh no! I’m so sorry you’ve been sick Nicole! I’m glad you’re feeling better though. And I look forward to the wedding recap (even though I was there). Sending you healing vibes. x0xo

I’m experiencing the exact same thing right now! Been sick for two weeks–haven’t updated my blog in over a week or really even given it a second thought. Oh well. Solidarity. I still love ya 🙂

I love your blog whenever you write. I’d much rather read an entry that’s inspired than one you crank out just because it’s time. Really, this is my favorite blog (and I read a lot of ’em). Keep on, keepin’ on.

Your “loyal” and “supportive” (makes me think of a dog wearing a bra) readers are still here. Even a newly married blogger needs a break once in a while.
