I feel like major life decisions are made between each of my posts lately. Without a doubt, this 30th year of my existence has been very expensive filled with more decisions and changes than any year prior. The most recent has been the combining of households with my sweet Izee Pizee. Remember two weeks ago when I was throwing away all of Isaac’s crap? Remember how boxes of his stuff was filling every last inch of my teeny tiny apartment? Well, the plan was to leave everything in boxes until this weekend, when we’d have time to sort and organize. That was the plan. Then I received an email from Caitlin with information about a nearby apartment that would be for rent. Let me back up a little and explain why Isaac has moved into my tiny apartment in the first place.
When Isaac and I began to talk about moving in, we looked at several apartments. He initially wanted me to move into his apartment, but I wasn’t thrilled with the location or the rent. My place is so small (~600 sq. ft.) and lacks amenities such as a dishwasher, washer/dryer, and central air and we didn’t even consider it as an option until someone swooped in and rented the first place we had our hearts set on. And then all other places we looked at were either too expensive or just not quite right. That’s when Isaac suggested he move in to my place, we suck it up for 6-9 months and live a little less comfortably, but save tons of money. (My rent is $450/month!!) Again, that was the plan until Caitlin’s email.
This new apartment was promising because A. it’s literally across the street, B. the current tenants are friends of Caitlin and thus, a trustworthy source of info about the place and it’s quirks and C. the specs listed every single thing Isaac and I had on our “new home wish list.†We promptly set up a time to see the place and I had a really good feeling.
Thursday evening we had the opportunity to meet Kim and her husband (whose name I’ve forgotten—embarrassing) and traipse around the place, look in their closets and cabinets, and take photos. Thank you again, Kim! (And PS: Can we keep your furniture?
) What we found was exactly the apartment we’ve been looking for!
Beautiful living room with a fireplace. Gotta have a fireplace so Santa can visit!
Huge dining room attached to the living room. We’re excited to have space to entertain large groups of friends!
The kitchen is small and has limited storage, but it will work and I love that it is filled with natural light. And it has a dishwasher.
We will have 3 bedrooms upstairs, one of which will become Isaac’s home office. A perfect amount of space for him to do his thing and at the end of the day he can shut the door.
The other two bedrooms are very large and also filled with natural light.
Maybe this post is pre-mature; that would be unfortunate. We have submitted our rental application and the apartment is unofficially, officially ours. But I’m hopeful that it will work out—so hopeful that I already gave my landlord notice. Eek! If things fall through, we will be moving in with Caitlin and Kristien and Maggie and James. She doesn’t know this yet. Neither does Isaac. I really hope that is not the major life decision made before my next post. ![]()

I’m crossing my fingers you move in with Caitlin. Those updates would be awesome. 😉
Just kidding!! Good luck with the apartment! I’m moving on Monday. It sucks.
Not very supportive. Consider yourself banned from Yuppie Yogini. 😉
Kim has a sewing machine. I think Ronnie got mine in the divorce settlement. (Just kidding – but I have no idea where it ended up – TMI)
I had no idea that this, traipse, is how you spell traipse. I have never had to write that word.
All that said, it looks like a great place. Great floors and I love those windows. Got my fingers crossed.
You should have fought for that sewing machine–forget the children. And, I didn’t know how to spell traipse either–that is where spell check comes in handy. If we get the place and don’t have to move into your house, we’ll have y’all over for dinner or a party. 😀
You guys can live in the office if you want… Your half of rent is $1000 a month. 😉
How exciting! I hope it works out. That place looks so bright!
Yay! So excited about this and we will be right around the corner. Hopefully you’ll let us come back and visit 🙂 Totally would have organized more Nicole- should have known better that when a blogger comes to look at your house that it’ll be featured on the world wide web 🙂 yay for moves! Thanks Caitlin!!!
I thought your house looked totally organized—-especially in comparison to my apartment!
Good luck getting the apartment! Looks great 🙂
Sooooo cute! It’s totally you! I’m crossing my fingers that you get it. 🙂
