Growing up I always wanted to live in a neighborhood with sidewalks and have friends within walking distance. You see, I’m from a mountain town and my closest friend was at least a 10-15 minute car ride away. When you are too young to drive and it’s not safe or flat enough to bike, the only options are learning to play alone or letting your brother beat you up. It only took a few times to realize that playing alone was more fun than letting my brother beat me up. I was a smart child. ![]()
It only took 1/3 of my life, but I’ve finally been able to live this dream. It began last year when Caitlin moved onto my street. And just when I thought it couldn’t get better, another blogger friend, Katie, moved to an apartment a few streets away. It’s pretty cool that this is my current living situation.
Having Katie as a neighbor has been so wonderful. Last week, me, Caitlin, and Katie sat around drinking wine and gossiping. She is already a great fit! Katie has obviously settled in and is feeling comfortable with her new neighbors. She’s already asking for 5am rides to the airport and pawning her children cats off on us.
It makes me happy to know we’ve helped Katie feel so welcome.
All kidding aside, I’m happy Katie has moved to the neighborhood. She’s a fun girl, good vegetarian cook, and she comes with cats! When I heard Katie was going out of town, I was actually glad (that sounds horrible), but only because I’d get the opportunity to kitty sit. As everyone knows, I need more cat in my life.
Katie’s cats aren’t just any cats; they are celebrities! Tell me I’m not the only one who reads Caturday religiously? Needless to say, I couldn’t wait for Katie to leave and for my chance to meet the fabulous Weasel and Ralphie. And they did not disappoint.
When I arrived, both cats were a little suspicious, naturally, but after a little schmoozing (and a few treats) they revealed their true personalities.
As you can see, we had a wonderful afternoon. The cats eventually got used to me and ignored all my attempts to cuddle. I think they like me!
As long as Katie goes out of town regularly, doesn’t ask for 5am rides to the airport, and lets me sit Ralph and Weaz, we will be wonderful neighbors!

This just made my whole life. Wanna pick me up from the airport on Sunday? Juuuuuuust kidding.
🙂 I’m totally kidding about the airport thing (just not the 5am thing).
Just do me a favor and keep writing such trenchant aanlyses, OK?
This is hilarious! Poor kitty but I definately let out a good laugh in my cubical!
Aww. Thanks for doing such a nice job. All mothers worry when they leave their babies. I know the pictures put Tater at ease. Thanks, Ralph and Weaz's grandmother
Awww….I’m a serious kitty cat lover. They were in very capable hands!
LOLOL I love the captions. I'm sure Katie LOVED this update 🙂
I love Caturday!!
Haha, sooooo awesome!
your cats haircut looks alot better than mine. I did a DIY cut and she looks like a crackhead kitty. she was given lots of treats after and no mirrors so I think I'm good!
I tried that once before and it didn’t go well…
Haha, just watch out, they WILL hide on you! Let Katie tell you the story of the time I was watching them and I couldn't find one for like 20 minutes and almost had a complete meltdown thinking she had gotten out!
That last picture makes me think of the cheshire cat because it looks like her body is slowly fading away 🙂 LOL love it!
