What’s New?

by Nicole on March 26, 2012

Don’t worry—this is not a “I’m pregnant” post. No, this is actually a “I’ve not blogged in 2 weeks and have lots of catching up to do” post. Hopefully you’re not disappointed.

I hate when I fall out of regular blogging. All the posts I’ve wanted to write begin to back up in my head and become an overwhelming hodgepodge at best. It’s hard to find a starting point so, I’ll try to simplify things by running through some of what has been occupying my time and thoughts.

1. First up, I decided to plant flowers to line my walkway. This may be the first time I’ve ever planted anything while wearing gardening gloves and using a real shovel. I felt so proud. The last time I attempted to plant something I used a large spoon. I really hope these flowers don’t die.

Speaking of dying, I wanted to die the next morning because my back was so sore. Gardening is much more strenuous than it appears. I kept wondering if it would have been less taxing if my damn hips weren’t so tight and I was able to sit in a proper yoga squat.

I bet this lady has some serious gardening endurance.

2. Notice that freaking Band-Aid on my forehead? Well apparently one night I decided I was a dermatologist. After using Google to determine that the hard, white bump on my forehead was a milia, I watched a few YouTube videos on the extraction process and took a needle to my head. The good new is I no longer have a milia. The bad news is I will be wearing a Band-Aid on my head for the next 2 weeks and will likely have a scar. You win some, you lose some.

3. I’m going to the Coldplay concert in July and realized I hadn’t heard the new album.

So I downloaded Mylo Xyloto (do you think Words With Friends would accept those words???) and have listened to the album no less than a million times. It’s amazing. I love it. I can’t wait for the concert!

4. I’m planning Caitlin’s baby shower along with Jen and Caitlin’s mother. While I’m honored to be in charge of this significant event for my amazing friend, I stress myself out trying to make everything perfect. But it will all be worth it in the end—especially since I refuse to allow anything not to be perfect. Winking smile

5. Immediately following the baby shower Isaac and I are taking a mini-vacation. I’m not physically in an office that many hours per week (~35), but I put in countless hours at home taking care of finances, marketing, paperwork, and everything in between. And then there is a house, a life, a body, a marriage, and friendships to maintain. Considering my last real vacation was Puerto Rico, I’d say it’s long overdue. The plan is to drive to Blowing Rock for a few days which isn’t long, but it will be two days of total rest and relaxation. Just thinking about it makes me feel rested!

That about sums up my life the past two weeks, give or take a few bottles of wine and a few bars of chocolate. What have you been up to?

So jealous of the Coldplay concert! “Us Against the World” might be the best thing my ears have ever encountered.

This is an amazing time of year to get up to Blowing Rock. Enjoy it! We’re headed up to Banner Elk over easter weekend. One of our rental properties is going vacant at the end of march so I’ve got to go clean up out there and deal with a realtor to sell the place. You want a cheap vacation house with amazing views?

Oh – I have milia too … right under my nose. I thought it was a pimple and I tried squeezing it then after doing some research I discovered it was milia. Now I have a huge red spot that I REALLY hope goes away soon and doesn’t scar although that is not seeming likely. 🙁

Get silicone scar bandages online–that is supposed to make scars go away—I will get them when my wound finally finishes healing.

I just went to the library yesterday and checked out two gardening books. Next week, I’m going to work on a shade garden. Spring is in the air! 🌷🌹🌸

You are so cute—my goal was to choose the flower that claimed to be the most kill-resistant!

Bummer on the milia! And I totally hear you on the gardening – it always makes me sore! But on the plus side, that’s awesome that you get to see Coldplay!

Awww I was wondering where you went…glad you are back 🙂 I just took 3 days off work so it was glorious to have 5 days where I didn’t have go to into the office (including the weekend, obvi). I feel like I accomplished so much! There are still eighty bajillion wedding things left to do though…so that’s what’s new with me lol

Happy to see you back in my Reader! I’ve been totally slacking on blogging, I know the feeling! I also wore a bandaid on my temple for what seemed to be for-ev-er because of a botched derm. surgery. Let’s hear it for facial scars!

Facial scars add character! 😉
