Night Time Pampering

by Nicole on March 3, 2011

With the first portion of my morning occupied by AM detox activities, I felt it necessary to spend the second half doing nothing that didn’t involve a blog or an episode of Desperate Housewives. Thankfully I had an afternoon running date with Caitlin or else I would have stayed glued to the couch. The weather was perfect for running 6 miles and bitching. Some of my best therapy happens on runs. Smile

By the by, have you seen how Caitlin looks with bangs?? She looks just like this—I promise!

We finished 6 miles in just over an hour—our pace was around 10:15 which is good for me. We chatted a little longer on Caitlin’s porch before I headed home to get started on my home “cleansing” plans. I didn’t do anything major, just made up my bed with all clean linens and organized my dried grains. The next phase involves going through clothes and having a serious heart-to-heart with the hoarder in me. Thinking smile

Worn out from all the relaxation, I decided a bath was necessary. My muscles have felt very fatigued lately so I decided to add Epson salts to my bath. Epson salts are made of magnesium and sulfate which is absorbed through the skin. These compounds help the body by “reducing inflammation, relaxing the nervous system, curing skin problems, soothing back pain and aching limbs, easing muscle strain, healing cuts, treating cold and congestion, and drawing toxins from the body” [source]. I have to say, my body felt very relaxed. I may have to make Epson salt baths part of the routine.

Oh yeah, I also gave myself a little at-home facial using Giovanni D:Tox Purifying Facial Mask.

Don’t you just love the face masks that harden?

Too bad it wasn’t classic face mask green. Winking smile

What a neat idea! I might have to give myself a cleanse if I can score a day off between switching jobs next week. 🙂 Running and bitching is wonderful therapy.

I hope you will get time off in the job change—you deserve it!

I have never tried an Epson salt bath but we talked about them in yoga training one day. I think I need to try one.

I love that this cleanse is about more than just your body and also your surroundings.

It was great seeing you this morning! 🙂

You would love an Epson salt bath! It really does seem to relax my muscles. I think I’m going to make it a more regular part of the routine. When I was growing up I always took baths and I’ve forgotten how relaxing they are, Epson salts or not.

How do you like that mask? I was eyeing that line at Whole Foods the other day. The products looked good. Are you trying any of the other products in that line?

I use some of the other products, especially the “detox” body scrub. It smells amazing, especially when used with a loofah. I like this overall product line a lot. Take it from me and Nicole (who totally thinks i’m a shower diva).

Awesome! I liked that the ingredient list was understandable 🙂

I actually liked it a lot. My skin is very sensitive and I was worried it would irritate my skin, but it didn’t. My boyfriend has several of the other products in that line–the body scrub and shower gel–and I love how they smell and that they are made with good ingredients.
